Development of price matals

Price rice and developments for steel

After the rather unexpected price increases in March, the market is now flooded with more reports of price increases’ … As Lex Coenen says from Novio Steel in the April edition of its monthly Steel journal.

More about the further analysis of Coenen on the current steel market:

In April we see prices for hot-rolled coils, which are up to 50 euros per tonne over that of February 2016, but now several plants are already speaking about the level for the next quarter. Hot-rolled coils were, according to some producers have a base price of less than EUR 400 per tonne, but if we look at the signals further means that the level or could go to 430-450 Euros. Some experts even talk about price increases for the coming quarter between 40 and 80 Euros per tonne depending on the type of product.

Chinese steel industry: Rising prices we see globally, resulting from increased demand in markets such as the EU and the US, but also because of the dramatic situation in China. To substantiate it with facts and figures: China’s steel makers have ever experienced the worst year. The joint industry in that country last year, a loss of 9 billion euros, while in 2014 a joint profit achieved of over 3 billion Euros. The outlook for 2016 does not look good, because if only one loss was recorded in the first two months of over 1.5 billion Euros.
